BILASTINE+MONTELUKAST combines two drugs: Montelukast (leukotriene receptor antagonist) and Bilastine (antihistamine). Montelukast belongs to the class of leukotriene receptor antagonists that block the action of chemicals called leukotrienes released from the lungs, causing inflammation (swelling) and increased mucus production in the airways. Thereby, reduces inflammation, mucus production, and narrowing in the airways. Bilastine belongs to the class of antihistamines (anti-allergic drugs) that works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance responsible for causing allergic reactions. It helps relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, running nose, watery eyes, itching, swelling, congestion, or stiffness.
Take BILASTINE+MONTELUKAST with or without food as prescribed by your doctor and swallow whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew or break it. Your doctor will recommend how often you take BILASTINE+MONTELUKAST based on your medical condition. Some people may experience nausea, vomiting, dryness in the mouth, diarrhoea, flu-like symptoms, sleepiness, dizziness, weakness. Most of these side effects of BILASTINE+MONTELUKAST do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to BILASTINE+MONTELUKAST or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advised to inform your doctor before using BILASTINE+MONTELUKAST. BILASTINE+MONTELUKAST is not recommended for children below 12 years of age. If you notice mood changes, causing depression, self-harming thoughts, or aggressive behaviour while on BILASTINE+MONTELUKAST, please consult a doctor immediately. It is advised to maintain 2 hours gap between taking BILASTINE+MONTELUKAST and indigestion remedies containing magnesium and aluminium as taking these medicines simultaneously may reduce the absorption of BILASTINE+MONTELUKAST. BILASTINE+MONTELUKAST is not recommended for people with impaired kidney or liver functions.

Give this medicine to your child orally with or without food in the dose, time, and way prescribed by your child’s doctor. It could either be prescribed alone or in combination with other medicines. The allergic symptoms may subside after your child has taken the initial few doses of Okacet 5mg Syrup. In case of serious allergic conditions, your child may have to continue taking the medicine for a week or two. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, repeat the same dose after your child feels better. But, refrain from doing so if it is already time for the next dose.
Your child may experience mild side effects like nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, dizziness, sleepiness, and headache after taking this medicine. These symptoms are usually non-serious and disappear on their own. However, in case of prolonged or bothersome events, it would be best to consult your child’s doctor without any delay.
Inform your child’s doctor if your child is on any medicines or is allergic to any medicine, product, or food. Do inform the doctor if your child has or had any heart, liver, kidney problems or was born prematurely. Share any history regarding bowel obstruction, malnutrition, weight-related issues, and thyroid problems with the doctor. Knowledge of your child’s medical history will help avoid any complications in the treatment and guide your child’s doctor to plan your child’s overall treatment better.
